Mission Statement
The Asian American Research Center at Stanford (AARCS) is an interdisciplinary hub for generating and sharing knowledge about Asian American/diaspora issues. We support and make accessible innovative research into all dimensions of Asian American life.
Visions & Goals
The Asian American Research Center at Stanford (AARCS) seeks to advance Stanford as a leading center of scholarship on Asian American/diaspora issues. Our primary areas of focus include research; education; community & public engagement. We recognize the diverse geographic formations, experiences, and identities that comprise Asian American/diaspora communities.
Research & Scholarship
- Support ambitious, transformative research across Stanford’s seven schools
- Foster interdisciplinary dialogue among scholars, students, policy makers, community members, and cultural producers
- Promote faculty work among the broader public
Education
- Support curricula development and innovative teaching approaches
- Sponsor and promote undergraduate and graduate student research
Community & Public Engagement
- Build community among Stanford’s diverse Asian American constituencies
- Organize public programming with local, national, and global reach
- Promote connections and collaboration with local and national community organizations
- Raise public awareness about Asian American issues
